    Door lock cylinder

I got a new (to me) cylinder for my drivers door, no key. What would be the best choice of action.

    A) take it to the dealer get a key made for it (possible?)
    b) take it to a locksmith get a key made for it (again possible?)
    c) change the tumblers from my current lock into the new one

Has anyone done anything similar? Any advice options I'm missing?

    Sold it.

    c) change the tumblers. Its not that hard... PM me if you're stuck while trying to do it.

Not to jack your thread, but what would you do if the drivers side door doesn't unlock when I use my keyless entry? It was working before, but now it seems stuck, and is only unlockable manually.

I used this write up... I bought the build your own door lock cylinder kit from the dealer... it was around 25 or 30 bucks 5 years ago.

My local dealer refused to sell me anything lock-related. Said it was BMW's idea not to do it...you may have better luck where you are, though.

I ended up getting it, and a bunch of other BMW parts, through someone who contacted me on the boards.
