I just bought a 1984 325e with somewhere in the range of a bout 230-240k on the clock for a smooth 5 bills. It's a beater and it's having some cold start issues. This is also my introduction to this forum, so hello everyone!
It's definitely running rich based on all the black smoke that comes out upon start up. I was reading on here and looking in the bentley to figure out what to check/change and it seems that the temp switch and temp sensor could be the culprits.
I took a look at the t-stat housing and there are like 4 sensors on that thing. I found a diagram on here, but can't find it again. Can someone point me in the right direction? Also is there a research for parts diagrams and numbers, or software, that they would use at the dealer....like ETKA but for bmws?
