    Sunroof manual to power conversion?

There's a yard around here with an e30 with a power sunroof, I figured I might as well swap em out today.

I got to pulling my crank one out today and I can't get the fucker out. I took off all the mounting bolts, the top three and bottom two on the bracket it sits on and it won't budge.

What do I need to remove?
    Is this even possible anyway?`

Don't bother...it's overrated. Just my opinion.

Well, if its possible, I'd like to do it, because cranking that damned thing sucks ass and is barely worth doing it to get the thing open.

It is possible BUT you have to change out the whole front part. The electric motor, the mount for it, and both tubes that the cables go through, harness, switch and headliner panel

You can not just swap in the eletric motor where the manual one was...

You are asking for it here, it's a little more than a handfull of work.

From what I can tell, its removing the old one bits, including the tubes and whatnot, adding the new stuff, adding wiring, putting the panel back together, done.

There is a little more to it than that.

That is a small parts list for a HUGE job. You might as well throw in some new cables while your at it too.

                  ;)

hahah, I know its a big job. Im pretty much redoing my entire interior ATM. I've got new seats now and am turning everything black including changing the carpet, rear shelf and back seat as well as door cards and such. Figured I migt as well tackle this while Im at it.

anyone have a write up on this or something?

What the hell. This job was EASY.
You need the motor and the panel that the motor mounts to (including the copper guide tubes) along with the switch and other things.

                        wow misinformation.

Take off the upper trim so you can see the black metal backing plate that is riveted to the copper tubes. (where the crank bolts into place)

Drill out the rivets, and bolt the electric motor bracket into place. Run wiring, connect everything, done.

You do not need to remove the sunroof rails, or the cables, or the copper tubes, etc.
