    running rich/lean

    With no acsess to tools or a gauge what are some signs that you are running rich or lean?

    1992 240sx coupe
    1994 525i

    rich= no power +black soot
    lean = lean/miss fires


    only in drastic cases...if you don;t have the tools don;t do the work. take it to the shop.

      i do, just not wth me...Il be back with my tools this weeked ill pull the plugs and check. i just didnt know if there was a quick easy way to tell... thanks

        Just hook up a volt meter to the o2 sensor. low voltage means lean, high voltage means rich. This would be on a scale of about .1 - .9 volts so 14.7:1 A/F ratio should be around .45 volts.

            ya, thanks but read my post thuroghly.....it says with no acsess to tools...i know how to do with with volt meter or socket wrench...or a snap-on MODUS. But until this weeked i only have my own 2 fists....but its almost the weekend so im not worried.

              If you don't have ANY tools then why are you asking, nothing you can do about it anyway. I didn't plan on you doing this now since I can read. Thought it might help you when you get back instead of pulling the plugs.

                nah im not tryin to be an ass.... The modus thing was just messin...its cool i was just curious i wanted to find out i know i cant fix it until i get my tools... Tnx for the pointers i was just curious if there were any ways to tell w/o tools. sorry if i came across as an ass.
