      or buy a new wiring harness. likely most fuses and relays are blown.

        You blew the fusable link at very least. Replace it and try to start again. Chances are that is all you fried. You very likely may have fried the alternator, and ABS computer as well. Perhaps more.

              Don't forget the positive terminal is also larger.

              I am no expert on the subject, but shouldn't there be enough failsafes that it wouldn't destroy components in his car? I would think it would just blow pretty much every fuse/relay. I remeber hooking a battery up wrong once...everything got warm...FAST.

                  it's the alternator it's toast
                  when the car looses voltage in general the light comes on..... if the alternator was good it wouldn't come on while the car is running, everything runs or the alternator once the car is started, battary is only there to start the car plus misc lights when it's not running. ie. open doors and such.
