car is a 91 318i. I swapped all the injectors with new ones, and after putting it all back together, I get a rough idle and a CEL with code 1244 (crankshaft pos. sensor). The car runs great and smooth with any amount of throttle, and I believe it has the same amount of power as it did before I swapped the injectors.
After I put it all together and turned it on, it ran really rough. After test driving it a few times, then taking it on a few mile ride, the idle has smoothed considerably, but a slight roughness is still apparent. It almost feels like a misfire, but the plugs and wires are brand new (within 3 months), and didnt give any trouble beforehand.
When driving, the CEL goes out, but after sitting and idling for ~15 seconds, the CEL comes back on. The code is 1244, which is apparently for the camshaft position sensor. I didnt touch this sensor, and never had ANY CEL before doing the injector swap.
I did crank the engine a number of times with the injectors out and the intake off. could that have caused some sort of a problem?
Any ideas or suggestions on where to take it from here? I am confused as to the problem, and can't really see how the CPS could be working most of the time, and not work at idle. Do you think that CEL is just a fluke, set off because of another deeper problem?
any ideas, suggestions or advice would be really great.
Thanks!
