I did not remove the trans when I removed the engine on my car, but I did get a good look at it, and from what I can tell there are 4 torx heads, and thats it (that hold it to the engine.)
You didn't mention anything about the driveshaft or shift linkage, both of which need to be delt with before the tranny comes out. Also gotta take the clutch slave cylinder off. Not 100% sure on the starter, but it would at least make it a lot easier (two allen head bolts, also known as hex)
So if you take that off, there are 4 torx, 2 allen, 3 nuts for the driveshaft, 2 smaller ones for the transmission mounts and I think 1 bolt for the shifter. also gotta take shift knob/boot off to make sure its not attached to the car via reverse wires, and I think you might have to take out the shift lever as well (1 clip.) I just remembered that you gotta do the clutch too...I am pretty sure that has to be unclipped (the clips are on the passenger's side of the trans, I am not 100% sure if that has to be done to take the trans out though)
If you have done all that, and probably more and you STILL have problems, then make sure your doing it right. The transmission isn't gonna just drop out of the car, that is going to do MAJOR damage to the shaft (or bearing) that leads into the clutch off the engine, it WILL NOT support the transmission weight (the bently book makes that clear)
You have to support the transmission and pull it towards the rear of the car, If you did all that...well then I don't know what to say right now...I can always go downstairs and actually grab the bently book and tell you exactly what to do...

yea, everythign was already off the car.. i was basically underneath the car when i came in and posted. turns out there are three smaller torx bolts at the bottom, two larger ones above those, another torx on the passenger side, the two hex bolts for the starter and one torx at the very top for a total of 9 bolts. that top one was a bitch and i didnt even take it off.. my dad had the tranny and clutch/flywheel off in less than an hour... new problems, time to start a new thread.Old and improved:
