I purchased both the bottom, top, and the rubber mount brand new at the dealer. But could't figure out how #5 rsts on the consule, and if the mount is pulled tight threw the consule, or just set loosely in the hole.
I believe my 318i was the same way also with only the #6 bracket but the one I ordered looks different from what I remember. To bad I don't have either of my 318i's to get under and take a look.
I've got the shifter all rebuilt with a M-coupe lever, just trying to figure out that rear. When Put together how I think it should be the rubber Mount barely contacts the lower mount, and is allowed to move around.85 325e 2.7 ITB'd stroker

I was just as confused as you when I first got all my parts.
#5 isn't even used - I don't know why it's in the diagram. I went to the parts dept and he clarified it with a tech.
Take that rubber piece (#7) and pull it through the hole in #6 and through the hole in the shift console. Pull it all the way through (there's a little ridge in the rubber for the solid pieces to "click" into. That's all there is to the rear.
