    Bumper Swap Question

So my neighbor has a vert that has a production date of 10/87 and he is trying to do a plastic swap. He said he had some problems with the rear but i havent really looked at it yet. Did he just do something wrong or will the rears not fit without modification? Not sure what the cut over date was for the 88 vs 87 bumper setup and if it even applies to verts.

You have to mount the sliders, and you have to do some trimming and/or drilling in order to do it if I recall correctly.

But in theory he shouldnt have to modify the bumper like pre 88 cars need right? We just need to mess with the slider?

          Hi,

I have put plastic bumpers onmy iX, (10/87) production date. Sliders are needed, yes and there is only one modification - front signals/marker lights.
Wiring plug needs to be replaced with one from a small bumper car.

I think he is trying to say that because early model convertibles dont have a rear valence the plastic bumper looks weird.
