    Fuel delivery problem. I think

    I have an 84 318 that for some reason runs super rich. If I drive it for a while and turn it off and let it sit for an hour or two it doesn't want to accelerate in first. I am thinking i have a stuck injector. It is getting too much fuel i think. When it runs like that if i rev it real high it will backfire and run fine.

    Pretty much everything could be wrong. Working on the same symptoms. Bentley has an endless chapter on Engine Management. I'm just going through everything on there until the problem is fixed.

    Vacuum leaks, temp switch, temp sensor, o2 sensor, relays for everything, fuel pump, injectors, cold start system, ICV, AFM, entire engine.

      Yup, what he said. I'd start with the fuel system though, especially the cold start injector. Then move on to temp sensors and switches.

      If you don't already have a Bentley manual, get one. it's the best $40 you'll ever spend.

        i agree but its got a new icv new fuel pump good afm and its adjusted properly. I know it has a vaccumm leak that is my next project and I am thinking one of my injectors is stuck open. at least part of the time. The temp sensors have been replaced the tps is good. That is why i am getting so pissed pretty much everything on thies thing is new lol

          Have you checked the rail fuel pressure? That would be the first diagnostic in this case.

            how do you check the rail fuel presure? I am new to working on cars. have a good teacher but personally i suck lol

              You tee in a pressure gauge to the line that supplies fuel to the injector rail. The procedure for cheing the fuel system is in the Bentley manual.
