What's the general opinion on the "high mileage" oils that are marketed for engines with over 75,000 miles? Are they worth the higher price? I normally use Castrol GTX 20-50, my M42 has 172k miles on it.

Ok, that's good to know. I'll just stick with the regular GTX. I ran Red Line 20-50 in it once (for 15k miles) and it ran great on it. Lower operating temp, easier starting, etc., but I have a slight oil pan gasket leak, so I have to add oil in between oil changes and just decided to go back to dino oil.

Amsoil is by far the best oil made. I am a dealer of it, my price is 7-8 per quart. The oil change intervals are 25000 miles or 1 year. I run it in my car, and it is very smooth. If anyone in the WA area needs it, you can pm me, I can get it for you. The place I used to buy it from (before I was a dealer) sold it for 10 per quart. By the way, its the only FULLY synthetic oil on the market. It has no petroleum products in it whatsoever. Other oils are made from the left-overs of gasoline refining. Castrol and mobil 1 synthetic are "semi-synthetic" in that they still have petroleum products.
