    Removing accelerator pedal / How???

I can't figure out how to remove the bottom portion of the accelerator pedal. I read somewhere that there are tabs that need to be pushed/pulled but don't see anything that looks like tabs - even after cutting the carpet and pad away.

    PLEASE HELP!!!

    Thanks,
    John

One you have it out or have a new one in hand, it is pretty obvious. But I don't have a clear memory of where the lock tab is or how it releases. Nor do i remember whether you can see the lock tab from the bottom. If you can, you should be able to release it from the bottom.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Here is a pic of the bottom of the pedal and the fixture it snaps into. To remove, simply get a good prying tool under the flange and pry upward. It will pop right out. To re-install, simply pop it back in.

          pretty bad explination from everyone....

probably the easiest way to tackle this is to get under the carpet, no shit!!! only reason i say this is because it is very difficult to get the screwdriver into the slots with the carpet in place.

whether you push up the carpet over the pedal or not, the instructions are the same, and even as difficult.
You see three holes - the outside ones have tabs that push in one direction, the middle is in the opposite direction.
The easiest way that i found the pedal to release is that you start on one side and work your way across. push in the first tab and rotate the pedal away from that tab, holding it out of the hole. Then go for the second in the opposite direction still pushing against the pedal. Lastly the third.

Its no where near as easy (without destroying the plastic) as i describe but at least this will help you make a plan of attack w/o wasting money.

and btw, WHAT A BITCH to take that out. I have done a lot of shit to cars, involving cars, in small, akward positions. but this is was a HUGE BITCH.
