    Front end M20 noise

    Hey gents!~
The last 3 weeks my 100k mile M20 has developed a wheeze or whine type noise in the front end of the engine at temperature that seems to spool with the RPMs. It starts (and is most prominent) at roughly 2k RPMs and like I said, whines all the way till 4k or so when the exhaust drowns it out. It also can be heard when the RPMs fall back down around 2-3k but is not noticeable at idle. Like I said, it only starts at temp. and the only maintenance that has been done recently that could have helped develop this was a valve adjustment about 1k miles ago and belts at the same time. Cant be belts though as it seems to be brought on by engine temp. Right?

    Thanks a gob!

EDIT: It does not seem to effect engine performance but is noticeable enough to drive me nuts lol. Any ideas?

it could be the alternator giving you a 2 week notice. or some other accessory.

also check to make sure the adjuster arms and pivits are tight on the ac/ps/alt. I had a vibration, turned out to be a loose pivot on the ac. made my belt whine. went to adjust it and found it loose. Bolt is right by the header/oil filter.
