Issue when filling up at gas station, please diagnose

So, I did some searching and I couldn't really find an answer to my issue. When I picked the car up a few weeks back, I didn't have any issues. Couple nights ago I went to fill up the car (no issues the first fill up), and the nozzle kept clicking off. I couldn't manually fill it (like, without setting it on one of the notches), it would kick off if I set it on one of the notches, even if i barely squeezed the nozzle it would still kick it off..... This frustrated the living hell out of me because i had less than 1/4 tank and needed to fill it up. If anyone's had this issue, or has heard of it, or knows how i might fix it please, post here.

Pull it out a little bit, the way the pipe to the tank is curved can cause the pump to think it's full and kick off.

S54B32 swap in progress. Status: Getting There

no other ideas. its just the gas pump spout thing doing its job. like the other guy said, just pull it out a bit so its barely supporting itself in there and then try it. i've noticed it also helps sometimes if you set it to full flow.

Mine has the same problem, its really bad though. It has to have something to do with my extra long range gas tank in the trunk. I've tried pulling it out a bit, turning it sideways, everything. I just try to find stations with old style gas nozzles. The new age plastic ones give me big trouble. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear it also.

Here in Oregon we can't pump our own gas (only other state with the dumb law is New Jersey) and the first few times I drove to Washington/California in my e30 I had lots of trouble with this when pumping my own gas. Do what everyone else has said, there's a precise position the nozzle has to be in for it to stay on.

Mine does this, too. It's weird, though, the attendants in NJ never had problems with it, but I struggle with it in CA.

Alright thanks guys. I was only slightly concerned because i had to put like half a tank in the car when i bought it, no issues at all. As soon as i try to put in a full tank, it starts to give me problems.
