1984 318i, fuel pump isnt kicking on, how do I see if its the relay or the pump?

I am trying to sell an 84 318i and I went to start it today and it wouldn't fire up. Its not getting fuel to the fuel rail and I cant hear the pump prime....did the pump randomly die from sitting the past 2 months? How much is a new pump? Can I fix the current pump? What relay is it?
