    Temperature Gauge

    My temperature gauge just sits and doesn't move.

    I first thought I was running cold.
    I replaced the Thermostat, the Temperature sending unit, Coolant temperature sensor, and had the cooling system inspected.

    The stupid gauge sometimes works and reached just below the middle, but even then, it bounces.

    All the other gauges work fine.

    What gives?

    believe you can tighten the ground nut in the back and see if that makes a diff.

      my gauge sometimes doesn't work unless i tap on it.. lol.

      then it springs into shape.

        Loose connection behind the cluster or ground nut.

          ground nut? please elaborate: size, more specific location, etc.

          my gauge bounces too. I have also heard I might need a new printed circuit for behind the gauges. my gas gauge used to bounce also, but my new fuel pump with cleaned sender contacts fixed that.

            located on back of instrument cluster. Believe it's a 7mm nut holding temp gauge.

              Try cleaning the guage post before just tightening, though

                ya thats correct about the ground nut. i had the same problem with mine and a bmw tech helped me fix it. what freaking genious he was!
