an idea for my broke fuel guage.

So my fuel guage has been broken since I got the car.

The only think I haven't done is.
Replace the entire cluster/SI board and batteries.

other than that the gauge has been taken out and replaced twice, both senders have been out numerous times, with the passenger side one replaced. and driver side one.

This is where I know the wiring is at fault. I CANNOT ground out the gauge and peg it to the full position. I should be able to do this with a jumper wire and a good ground but I cannot.

So this is my dirt driveway, living in texas solution...

IS THERE A WAY TO MAKE A JUMPER????
as in slave in a cable from the tank sender up to the dash to the cluster harness????

The reason I ask is because there is no way in hell im dropping my subframe to get the tank out, to check this wiring.

So with your help, and my help I think we could figure out which wires are for the guage cluster cut them out of the loop, slave in our's and run them under the carpet back to the sender..... or atleast tap em in and see if it works..

so. let me know what you think and if you have any input.

ive done this on Hummmv's a million times. It takes a week to do a body harness on one. and I never did it, but I did fix 1000 fuel guages..
thats why my brain is on hack job.

OK, first off, this is not some american pile of idiot engineering, this is BMW...thus the sender/pump are under the back seat. Phillips screwdriver gets you to the wiring, 8mm gets it out.

Second, do you have your wiring diagrams? If not, go to www.wedophones.com and download your manual.

    (Click manuals>auto>BMW)

Third, I would bet money (as much as 32 cents) that this is nothing but a cold solder joint on the IP board.

    Now go get busy!
