I have removed the single screw and plastic bracket that hold my 1988 vintage SI board into the cluster. The SI board will not budge, and I don't want to damage it. Do I have to remove the coding plug from the front of the cluster to get the SI board out? I couldn't get the coding plug to move either. What's the trick to getting everything apart nice and easy?

The SI board will come out easier if the coding plug is removed. You have to squeeze the side tabs together and wiggle it back and forth to get it to come out. Sometimes the tabs break off and then you will have a hard time. If you pull firmly on the SI board in the area of the coding plug it should come out. That is the only thing holding it in if you have removed the screw holding the white "check" plastic piece in the center! The difference between porcupines and BMWs is that porcupines have the pricks on the outside!
