    Rust on trunk edge

ive got some pretty bad rust on the rear edge of my trunk, the edge where the gasket mounts. it seems pretty bad, i was grinding on it some last night and taking a good amount of material off, ill try to get some pictures after work.

right now my plan is to grind all the rust off down to good metal and then decide if there is enough ledge there to just POR-15 and install the gasket, if theirs not enough material i guess ill have to cut and weld?

i know its pretty hard to tell the severity without a picture but any opinions/experiences with rust in this spot?

I replaced small amounts of sheet-metal in hidden placed like that using epoxy. Secure the sheet metal using sheet metal screws and apply epoxy in between. remove the screws after it's cured. Since it's hidden, you don't have to worry about paint adherence.
