    education? School or DIY

I was thinking about heading out to the local JC which has an ASE program and a really decent lab. I have very little tech experiance other then oil/tune up BS and the occational drave shaft/exhaust issue; and well if it wasnt a direct bolt on i would be kinda up the creek.

My objective is stop paying other ppl lots of money for stuff I can do myself with a little bit of know how and a Bently.

    So what the general concensus?
A.) Should I blow a few dollars ($20/unit I think) on a couple JC courses?
    or
B.) just buy a Bently and bust some knuckles?

I would like to say Im pretty bright when it comes to logical problems and what not, I was an IT admin for 9 years before I decided to go back to Cooking professionally.

P.S. I have like ZERO tools atm, sides an old craftsman socket set and a 1 ton floor jack. And two engines and a tranny sitting on my garage floor (m20b27 / m50 blown head w/ tranny)

I learned by doing. I am no mechanic, but I'm willing to do anything and everything on my car at least once. Sometimes twice if I forget to install a bolt or torque something correctly, but if you just remember righty tighty lefty loosey (except for some backwards threaded fasteners), you should be fine.

at 20 bucks a unit i would say take some classes you might get some bits of info that would be really expensive to find out for yourself the hard way

If you have the time and can afford it, that the course. You'll learn more and faster than doing the occasional DIY effort.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
