    Eta no start Help?

Ok as some of you know my automagic 86 528e hasn't started in 2 years. I just checked the wiring today with the volt meter and found this.
Does this all look right? the car cranks but won't start, fuel pump dosn't turn on. ECU checked, new ignition switch, coil, plug rotor, cap, replaced engine harness. If you bridge the fuel pump relay the pumps run, but if you try to start while bridged won't start. bridged the main and fuel pump relays and still just cranks. I just want to make this car start someway or another. Either the right way or force it to start.

Have you checked out your crank sensor mounted on the side of the tranny, connected at the rear top side of the motor? It may just be a bad connection there or maybe they are crisscrossed ? you may even have a damaged flywheel (nimple sheared off?) in which case the sensor isnt telling it to fire?

Have you tried starting it from jumping the engine connector? with the key turned to the on position?

I thought I had posted this, but the car does start now but won't run. After I pluged the ecu back in I removed the rubber seal, and the car starts right up but won't run. If I hold the starter it acts like it's trying to run as you hear ignition. but it stops as soon as I let off the key.

are you sure when changing out the wiring harness that the starter was correctly wired back up? This or the ignition is where I would look...

                Ignition switch is brand new.
And I'm pretty sure I got the starter wired correctly.

I put in a 535/3.5 one time and it was out of an 87 the car I was working on was a 85. I thought plug and play right, wrong. The starter had different connectors on it and somehow became crisscrossed and upon first start up it ran but I had to push it with the starter just as you describe. I would double ck this to be sure everything is right...I think this maybe where your problem is?..hopefully?

Doesn't this car have a ballast resistor?
Voltage to the coil is full when cranking and goes through a resistor after cranking stops.
                    Perhaps the resistor is bad.

I've never seen or heard of one of those on these cars except for the Aux fan, if it did have one it's not in the Engine harness going to the coil.
