    AC Fix

So I just borrowed a bunch of money to fix all the things my car needs. Over the next week, I'm replacing the alternator, muffler, center support bearing, and tires. The last thing I want is to convert the AC system to R-134.

So, what components do I need to replace to convert the system? Also, can I do this conversion myself? I read somewhere that all I need to do is replace the receiver / dryer, drain the system, and put in R-134. Is it really that simple?

    Have at it

Retry below --> thanks for pointing that out.

If the link becomes inoperative, search on "R134a conversion."

its really that simple. But... there is a catch like everything else. It takes some experience and some skills to remove the fittings without damaging them. It also takes some skills to be able to remove the fittings in the tight space.

you probably also need to replace the shrader valve which will require a little cheap tool you can buy. A oring packet and go to town.

you can test to see if the system if completely depleted by touching the shrader valve and pushing it lightly if its completely empty then jsut open it up and replace the drier and fill her up.
