    Alternator Bracket

I just had the stud that holds the alternator adjustment bracket to the engine replaced. The overpriced mechanic that I was forced into using also told me I needed a new bushing for the mount, and he wanted another $120 to put it in.

A simple bushing sounds like something I can handle myself. Can someone shed some light on where it goes and give me a part number / link? I'm having trouble hunting it down.

The adjustment nut? It's $5-10 if I remember correctly when I ordered mine. If it's the bracket, it's maybe $20.

You need to list your year/model.

This is for an 87 325e - parts #8 and #9 usually go.

I was thinking the mechanic meant these, although I don't see them on the diagrams for my year / model ('86 325es). So do I need them at all?

Oh, well they do wear out. I replaced them on my car a while back, but I am not sure if yours does or not. Browse through realoem.com, it's all there.

Awesome! Just what I needed. I'll order them and install them next week. Thx.
