When I'm not blowing air with the A/C on, the air coming out doesn't smell to good. It just smells a bit musky. Do e30's have a cabin air filter I can replace?

No. IIRC Canadian cars do.... they must have a different heater/ac box... there is a part number for the cabin filter, but there isn't room for it in the stock us market ac/heater box. I was going to get the filter to stick in the firewall area when I removed the ac/heater box from my car last year.. but I've reinstalled the box/heater since then.
What you should do is clean the 'cowl' area where the air comes into the blower fan...i bet there is a lot of dirt/dust there.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

There isn't room for it in regular heater/air box.
Here is the microfilter, comes up if you pick a non us car and it says w/o A/C.
