taking out rear seat, at least bottom

What kind of procedure is removing the rear seat.

Pull up on it, or screw, bolts, etc?

Just a quick few steps. thanks

      sweet, just what I wanted.

if anyone else knows besides Josh, is the fuel tank seals (whatever) located just under the carpet? fuel smell, wet tank (only when tank is completely full).

Once you get the rear seat bottom out, you'll see a sort of oval metal cover plate, painted black, with ~8 phillips head screws holding it down. Remove this plate, and you'll have access to the top of the fuel pump pickup. It could be the o-ring that seals the pickup to the tank, but I'll bet it's one of the hoses that run to the tank or the pickup- probably a vent hose- they get old and crack- and when you fill up the tank, they leak.

Another possibility (happened to me), is the vent hose where it runs under the right rear wheel well- there's a long narrow metal cover plate that protects the vent hose (look behind the wheel- in the back of the wheel well). On my car, the hose was chafed by this cover, until it wore thru the hose, and it would leak, only when I filled the tank REALLY full.

Theres only 4 screws on the cover. Pull up the grey foam stuff and you'll see it on the passenger's side.

While you're in there, you might want to check out the build document under the seat, which has details on your car printed on it.
