Hi,
My left tweeter (aftermarket install since I have a 318 with standard sound) wasnt working, so I went in to fix the connection. Somewhere in the work, I must have blew some fuse. I did disconnect the chime, then reinstalled it with the key at the on position. It works fine even now, but thats the only thing that I can think that I did wrong.
The symptoms are that the inspection light came on right away. Why, I dont know. The tachometer doesnt work, and the display on my clock doesnt show anything.
Everything else seems to work fine, including the radio/radio memory, windows, locks, lights.
One time I pulled the trunk light bulb, ands when I reinstalled it, the tach didnt work like this. However, the trunk light didnt work either... This time the trunk light works, and I never messed with it.
Ive checked all of the fuses, and all are OK, the continuity test checks out, including #10 and 21. The car runs fine, backup lights work, etc.
It seems odd that not even 10 minutes earlier, I was driving the car and all was well. Shut it down, tinker a bit and something goes bad... seems odd. I had no other indication that something was wrong, and never any funny behavior of the gauges or anything.
Ive disconnected the battery for the night. Maybe thatll reset something, or make things better... I hope so.
I never saw any sparks, I was only working with the speaker wires, and all of that works perfectly now. The owners manual didnt help me to figure it out, so I hope that someone else might have an idea. Or, if youve encountered this before, suggestions on what the correct repair is. I think that it may have something to do with the SI board/bateries? I never was able to figure out how to remove the gauge cluster, and Im a bit worried about doing it. WHat kind of cost is nvolved in repairs if its related to the SI Board?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
JMH
