    Ellipsodal wiring

Just purchased a set of ellipsoidals for my E30. I understand there are some wiring differences. Can someone bring me up to speed.

There are numerous threads on here that explain just that, search my friend.

For a very quick response>> In my case, I started with the ellipsoidal lights with their plugs/wire harnesses (with cut off ends). The idea is to create pigtail wire harness to connect from the new ellipsoidal light bulb (two wire connector) to your existing seal beam wire harness (three wire connector). Four basic pigtails were made from each section of the individual ellipsoidal wire harnesses (the light plug which goes into the bulb and about 6" of wire). It is assumed you have sections of the orignial ellipsoidal plug/wire harness). New spade connectors were attached to each of the wire ends (two per wire harness) and insulated with shrink tubing. For each light, the pigtail plug was attached to the ellipsoidal light bulb and the two spade connectors were then each inserted into one of the three from the original seal beam plug (one positive and one negative, use multimeter or check forum diagrams). One of the seal beam plug ports was not used. Make sure you are connecting low beam to lowbeam, high beam to high beam. Verify your work and test the lights. About 1 hour of work. There should be detailed instructions on one of the forum posts. Good luck.

If they are US ellipsoids I sell plug and play adapters for them. $20 with a free R3V decal.
