    clutchless startup

    can someone explain to me why you dont have to press in the clutch when starting e30's?

    i dont need to press the clutch in, please tell me everyone elsedoesnt have to?

    BMW didnt start putting clutch safety swtiches on their cars until 1996.

      If it makes you feel better, just press the clutch in when starting the car. ;)

        It's not a new car buddy, lol.

        Why would you want a clutch switch anyway, they're annoying.

          You really don't have to push it in? Weird... I guess I've never tried starting it without.

            No you don't have to push it in.

            Therefore don't let your gf start your car and hope it over a curb. That sucked.

              i hate it when my dad takes my car out and parks it in gear, cus i never press in the clutch to start the car :evil:

                yeah neither of my e30's have a clutch disable for starter, my 92 4runner does, however it has a button to bypass it! lol

                  I always put the clutch in when I started my car, I don't know why, just always did it.

                      I'm glad we don't have a clutch switch - in an emergency you can use the starter to move the car a few feet.

                          That's why I'm glad my E30 doesn't have a "safety" switch too. I just got in the habit of giving the stick a few shakes (Not that stick you sick bastards) before I turned the key to make sure it's in neutral.

                            I do the safety shake too, just not more than 3 times or you are playing with it.

                            I also am one that does the clutch psuh because my truck had the neutral safety switch and I got in the habit of it.
                            Im now E30less.
