    double vanos to obd1

can you make the double vanos engines obd1? if so how is it done.

From the research I have done.........
Yes it can be done by swapping head, intake, injecters,ECU, etc from a OBD I engine
Pretty much everything from the head up.

I'm sure there is many write up's available . Try a search on "OBD II conversion"

There wasn't an OBDI double VANOS head, was there?

Or there is a way to trick OBD2 into the car. There is an M54 powered E30 on the internet somewhere, pics have been around already. I doubt its easy though, at least not yet.
            Im now E30less.

OBDII single vanos engines can be converted to OBDI. However, the dual vanos engines are totally different. The main problem with mating a single vanos OBDI head to a dual vanos OBDII block (like the M52TU or M54) is that the oil and coolant passages don't mate up. I found that out the hard way. By the time the dual vanos motors came about, OBDII had already been in place for a few years.

Double VANOS is gonna have to reamin OBD2.

Call Motec,I am sure if you send them your checkbook they have something for you.

Don't get me wrong, I would love a s54 in a 87 325is body, but the cost is something crazy.

The guy in China or some where over there, that did it did a small writeup, but I have never heard of it again, or that it is running with factory computers and all.

1996 was the first year of OBD2.

FWIW, 1999 was when double vanos came out on the 6cyl cars.
