So i changed my motor mounts and almost had a disaster....

Guys, if you can't tell your cap is off by how bad the car is running, that's bad.

I did it just an hour ago. Went and bought some 10W-40 to top 'er up, closed the hood, and started the car. I noticed immediately that something was up, and popped the hood. LIke I suspected, left the cap off. First time I've ever done it, too. LIke you said, it's very noticeable, the car stumbled right away.

A few months after I got mine (325e), I happened to leave the cap off for a bit. Drove around for a bit and didn't notice anything unusual. Then I stopped to think, and couldn't remember if I put it back on or not..... Boy did I feel stupid. Sitting on top of the valve cover where I left it 8)
