    Steering wheel swap problem

Ok, I know this has been beaten to death, and I have searched but I have a problem swapping the steering wheel. If there is a previous thread please lead me to it. The car is a 318is and it has had the airbag removed and has a mtech 1 on it. I went to swap my MOMO wheel on it that was on my 85 318 and when I tried to put it on, the threaded spindle was too large for the hole in the hub of the wheel. I then tried to put a mtech 1 wheel on it that fits my 85 318 and it did not fit either. I was under the impression that they were all the same.... Anyone have an answer? Where can I find the right size for this car? e30matt....do you know?

There is a white peg you have to remove from the hub that would lock the wheel whever you turned it.

I put two Mtech1s on my '90 ( airbag wheel 325i ) and thye both fit. hamann318iS has one of those M-Techs in his 318iS as well

Well what is strange is that it has a mtech 1 on it now, but the mtech 1 that I have from my other e30 does not fit....

AFAIK, airbag cars and non-airbag cars have different steering shaft sizes. I'm pretty sure you'll have to get a wheel or a MOMO hub designed for airbag cars.
