so i put my motor back to stock to get it smogged (just intake, M30 afm, and a chip, not hard stuff) i put it all back just now and now my car wont start, no fireing at all. all i get is a bunch of relay clicking from the engine compartment, with my check engine light flashing along with it(sometimes) so i was wondering maybe i f'd up the ecu putting the chip in this time. does it sound like the problem? do i just need to reset/gorund something?
what are the symptoms of a fried ecu

When you swapped chips, was the battery disconnected? If not there is the possibility of damage to the DME as it gets unswitched power.
You could try a hard boot (disconnect the battery for 20-30 seconds). And make sure that the DME connector is fully seated and that you haven't left anything in the engine bay disconnected. I'd also try swapping in a new main relay. If none of that helps, the next step would be to try a known good DME.The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

"clicking" and the check engine light flashing? do the other dash lights flicker too? sounds like a dead battery.

fried ECU? Smells burnt, tastes like chicken.
Sorry, couldn't help but engage my very juvenile sense of humor since I have no idea what the real symptoms would be. Good luck with getting her back running again.1993 Alpine White II 325i convertible (last year of E30 production)

When my DME went bad the car was getting fuel, and I was getting power to the coil, but none to the plugs. If I left the key in the on position to long my coil would actually start to bubble out the black goo that is inside. I fried two coils before I figured out what was happening
