    Idle Over Heating Help?

While sitting in the Macc's Drive Though last night i had a nice suprize. I looked down at my temp guage and im am just off of red. Shit Turn the car off.

After further inspection there seems to be no leeking, so i then checked the fan clutch by sticking some news paper in there it didn't stop strait away but did stop.

I then went for a bit of a drive around my area to see what happens. While moving its perfect. But when i stop and idle it very slowly creaps up, then when i move again it all of a sudden drops to just above the quarter line on the temp guage.

I now am thinking it might the water pump not the fan clutch.

    What do you guys think?

    Cheers

I would say fan. While moving, the engine gets air, but when stopped, it can't pull enough air through to keep it cool.

Is there any side to side play in the water pump pulley?

Fan clutch, thermostat, or a partially plugged radiator. Start with the fan clutch and thermostat.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

The pump dosn't seem to be loose and the thermostate and radiator have all just been replaced about 2 months ago. I think ill just get an 88 degree thermostate, fan clutch and a few other things i need from pelican parts.

          Thanks guys hope this works

this should do it, what did you replace the radiator with tho? another used one?

if it goes off red id figure a more serious issue. were you sure to bleed the system properly? when my convertible creeped that high i had the radiator cleaned and fan clutch replaced and never has been an issue. needel stays below 1/2 mark cruising and on it stopped.

one thing you could try really quick before replacing all of those things is drilling 2-3 holes in the thermostat. This will ensure that there is always new coolant flowing into the engine. If you do this make sure that the holes are at the very top for bleeding purposes.

No its a new radiator and the system was bleed properly. Its not making it to the red line its just past the 3/4 mark.

Not a bad idea but i don't think it is the thermostat im just changing mine because i like the car cooler, and it dose get up to 45 degrees here in summer. Cheers
