    Tranny issue

I'm having an issue with my tranny. When it was out of the car, the tranny would shift into every gear fine and spin fine. Now that it's mated to the engine and in the car, all I can do is select 1st and 2nd gear. But I'm doubting that it's actually SHIFTING because when I drop it into neutral, I can't spin the output shaft. I can't move the shifter to the 5th or reverse gear position. I can push it to the right like you would to select 3rd or 4th, but I can't put it in either of those gears. Anyone have any ideas as to what's going on?????

Did you slide the tranny on in Neutral? if not try pulling it off and put it into neutral then slid it back on.
Hopefully that tranny works out for you.

99.9% positive I did. Damnit. I REALLY hate to yank the engine and tranny back out. :(

Are there any special tools I'd need to pull the back casing off and take a peek inside?

Because it's an m50 and there's little to no room. I'm going to go back over and scope things out.

I don't know my 318i gave me that problem when I put a new tranny on, I Installed it in First gear, Maybe a selector fork is bent or something.
