    Need window Help!

I know a few people including me that have 1987 325is and are having window trouble. We have the non scissor style power windows. They go all the way up and down but when we go all the way up they don't know when to stop, the motor keeps engaging and and makes a awful clicking noise if the button is help up. How do the motors know when to stop. Is it a internal stop in the motor or is it on the sliders that make it stop? I ask this because I have tried another motor and overhauled mine with another working one but never tried a new one. On the sliders I can see where when all the way down it stops at a little plastic piece it slides into but cannot find one on top. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!! I need to know if I just need a new motor or the sliders.
    Thanks
    Brian

That's a very strange issue. The motor should stop when you let off the switch I would assume. Attached are some electronic diagrams.

Brian, that is simply a worn regulator. The center pivot of the drive gear is all woggly. Often that will masquerade as a bad motor, too.

I am gonna swap to late model motors and regulators before my car goes to paint, likely just swap doors to late models. The newer regulator is SO much nicer, quiet and quick!

                  yeah, good catch, Trent.

OK, so there is a clampie thing that hold the sumbitch I am talking about to the gear drive track, I think that is 15...so it is the part that spins to make the gear track move, does that help?

Pull the damn thing out of the car and run the motor. You will see instantly what I am talking about.

Will do. Hope it's that and not the $300 motor. :)
