    Green box by the ecu

There is a little green box in with my ecu. Just behind the ecu and towards the driver side. I don't know what it is or what it does. So what is it?

Only 325e cars have an Idle control Module. All 325i & is cars as well as SuperETA cars have the ICM function integrated into the DME. I have no knowledge of 318's, but I'd guess that M10 engine cars might have an ICM and M42 would not.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Knowing what it is called now I can search. Putting "little green box" in the search tool probably wouldn't have worked too well lol
