    Fuel Level Sender

Ok so my 91 318is is running out of gas when it shows half a tank. Tried several different gauges/clusters with the same results. So im off to replace the sender. Here is my question: I checked real OEM and it shows the sender with the pump, which is what i expected.

But when i checked the 325 it shows the sender on the other side of the tank but the diagram also shows a sender in the same place as the 318is.

Which one is correct? Im asking because its easy to find 325's in the junk yard here but late model 318's are pretty rare.

I would remove your rear seat and look if you have two, if you do you would want to find out which one is bad as they work together.

Yeah the 318is is an hour north of me though and most of the junk yards are close to where i am at now.

if you have the car's VIN, plug the last seven of the Vin into http://www.realoem.com and you should be able to find out which gas tank (and thus senders) the car has.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

the 325i tank is deeper, so even if you found one with the integral pump/sender, it wouldnt fit in your car.

Take yours apart and try to fix it. On my ix the filament was tangled on the float and it wouldnt reach the bottom.
