if the lock mechanism is physically frozen, that wouldn't help. :(
How does your lock mechanism get frozen? Pumping water into the entire door?? It's usually just the lock cylinder that gets frozen, and a keyless system will work regardless. Trust me, that's the exact reason I got mine. Works wonders.

        lock deicer doesn't work

I have a compustar in my winter beater, however the motor for my beater won't be together till the end of the week

        the boiled water worked well.

I just dropped the head for my civic at the machine shop. he said wd40 just displaces water, and recommended pm blaster as it absorbs the moisture

And this is cominng out of an Ontario man. I'm pretty sure that he suffers one of the coldest among the people on the board.

That's true. But what are the chances of the lock mechanism freezing up?

If the whole car was covered in 3 inches of ice, I would imagine it would be hard to get inside. But who cares, that never happens.

I've never had power lock mechanism freeze (that i know of). And if keyless entry works for ryan_george in the cold winters of Ontario, I'm sure if would be fine in Buffalo.

Some lock lubricants use graphite, I think. I remember using it to lubricate axles on pine wood derby cars, maybe a hobby shop? Spray lubes would be better.
Have you tried wd40 to prevent this?
Spay some in with the nozzle, and work the key in there for a while.

Is the little door for the key slot missing?
If so, maybe a piece of tape over it would help?

yea i get the same problem, last winter before i had any aftermarket audio I would just leave the doors unlocked when parked at home overnight, now i cant risk doing that anymore

ive been looking for a good cheap keyless entry system. anyone have any reccomendations?
