    O2 heater relay

I searched the threads but didn't find any reference to my question. Are you really supposed to have 12vdc between pins 3 & 4 on the O2 sensor wiring harness coming from the heater relay? or just some form of voltage (less than 12vdc)? I'm pretty sure my O2 sensor is bad, but I didn't get 12 volts between those pins. Also, to test the relay I can just swap the relay to the Fuel pump? its the same type of relay?

Yes you can swap those two relays. I don't have an ETN (wiring diagram) handy, so i can't speak to the voltage question. You can get the ETM for your car from http://wedophones.com/BMWManualsLead.htm
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I think I've got bigger problems

When I bought the car, the fog lights & cruise control didn't work. No big deal, I thought, I'll just fix 'em. Well, I started probing around, and I either have no voltage or very little voltage all the way back to the relays and fuses. Now when I find the same thing to the O2 heater relay, I wonder what the hell is going on. I did find evidence that the car previously had an aftermarket alarm system (holes where an alarm horn was mounted, and a couple of disconnected LED's below the instrument cluster) that had been removed, and I'm wondering what they fucked up in the process.

        Fixxed two outta three!

Found a bad fuse for the O2 heater relay, and someone(PO) installed a four prong high beam relay instead of the five prong. Swapped that out and got back my fog lights. Now to try and figure out my cruise control or lack thereof.
