    173 DME Model/Year Variations?

    just a quickie here..

just got a spare 173 but it wont hold an idle in my car. i have tried swapping in the chip from my own DME but still wont idle, just dies if i let off the gas. fit the standard chip from this 173 into my own 173 and it works like a charm. im assuming this spare i got must be from a car equipped with a lambda sensor? FWIW some of the other chips on the circuit board have different numbers on them from the ones on my own unit but apart from that there are no visible differences. it will run fine it just wont hold an idle unless i give it a little gas.

any way to identify which 173's are for lambda equipped cars and which ones are not? also is there any way to modify this unit to disable the lambda input so it works like my own unit?

    Currently E30-less

As far as I know all 173 DME's are the same. Your problem could be caused by a fault in one of the input/output interface circuits in the new DME
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
