    Electrical?

Drove my car today since I hadn't in awhile, was running like a champ. On my way home, went through a light. Everything just shut down, electrical cut out or something. Turn on the hazards, try starting it a few times, notice a Explorer behind me. Of course it's a cop - him and another guy help me push it across the road into a parking lot.

After awhile letting it sit I get it to run, but I have no idea what caused it. I did hear a few weird changes in engine noise when I started to get it running, nothing rough, just like it wasn't in perfect synchronization or something.

Fuel had no problem getting to the engine, relays are good, any idea's? Thank god for christmas I'm getting a Bentley Manual.

ECU maybe? Check to make sure that its getting power and a good ground. If you have a spare, swap it in. If not, this might be a good time to buy one.

Good excuse to upgrade maybe. :D

I really don't want to put much if any money (unless needed) into the engine, summertime m50 swap I've got planned should liven the car up substantially.

You say everything shut down? Does that mean you had no power at all, no dash lights on, no blower etc..
or just the engine died? When you tried to start, it cranked but wouldnt fire?
        Please be more specific

Yeah everything started to die down,I lost ps and the engine went dead. Lights were still on. It cranked but wouldn't fire sitting there. Then pushed it across the street, waited a few minutes and first try starting it, fired right up.

Sounds like it could be a crank position sensor, or an intermittent problem with the main relay.
