    check engine light

Usually only on the intersate running 65-80 or 5th gear 3500-5500 rpms if your on the gas the check engine light will come on. some times it goes off as soon as you let off the other times it takes it a few seconds and sometimes when you push the clutch and drop it to idle it goes off? what could be causing this oxygen sensor maybe? And also sometimes when the light comes on and you put it back to idle , it surges up and down almost stalling out but then you rev it a little and its normal. Idk what the gell is causing it just verry annoying. Any suggestions lemme know thanks, Hunter

The useful life of an O2 sensor is not more than 100k. If that applies, replace the sensor.

Have the intake and crank case smoke tested to find any intake leaks.

Run the suite of fuel system tests in the Bentley manual.

If this is an 87 325i or later 325i or 325, use the stomp test to pull the fault codes.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
