Ok, my SI board light stays on 24/7 365, my gas gauge works but when the tank is full it reads 3/4 and when its empty it reads 1/4 below normal empty. (so basically its off to the left a little). My MPG gauge doesnt work nor does my tach. My tach will work when its REALLY cold and the car hasnt warmed up yet. and everyonce in a while it will jump up and then die again, this is rare though and very random. And every onec in a while both gauges will twitch a tad when i turn the key on. I have taken the cluster out and messed with teh connections and they seem clean and making good contant. Im pretty sure my SI batteries are dead, where can i get some to replace them? or do i need a new board? where can i get one? and whats up with the other 3 gauges. anyone know? thanks guys

You didn't try tightening the ground nuts on the back of the cluster? I'm pretty sure the SI board has nothing to do with any of the other functions of the cluster. Mine has been out of commission since before I bought the car, and everything works fine.I retired my E30 for now...

I fixed all the probs exept the gas gauge but im pretty sure thats the gauge itself, not a problem, i can fix it. but i removed the solder on the si board batteries and removed them. i soldered 22 gauge wire to 2 AA battery cradles and epoxied them to a small peice of plastic and velcroed it under my dash and put regualr radio shack ni-cad batteries in there. (i charged them before i put them it) fixed the MPG gauge, tack , and teh SI lights. im very happy with teh fix
