Did you check realoem, if you don't know about realoem it is a great site for diagrams of everything bmw. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do just go to the archive section to find e30 parts.

    Does this help?

You probably could have bought the part from one of the users on here but you already got the rebuild kit.
West German BMWs, they just don't make the same as they did before the wall fell.
^Case in point: Auto-Repair Technology. Everytime my car isn't starting or acting up I let it sit, sometimes for an hour, sometimes for days. But it eventually fixes itself.

OP - i've never seen a spring outside of the cyl. like you have in the picture....

Maybe it goes on the inside??

The spring is part of the double locking system. As far as I can tell it looks like it is in the correct place. You should be able to pull the key out if you turn the key 90 degrees.

I see a spring on the driver side lock cylinder....on the bottom left, but it's wedged in the cylinder and not outside.

Hey, This spring popped out on mine causing my lock to not work at all. It did this when my car was double locked so that caused some problems :) I reinstalled the spring but it has popped out again, same problem.

that spring is in the correct place. Just flip it around. Look at your first picture. Position the spring so that you can see through the center of the coil to the background. Sorry horrible explanation. If you can't figure it out let me know and I can snap a picture tomorrow

                EDIT:
                2nd attempt at explanation:
Draw an imaginary box around the coil and the two connection points. The coil is in the top right in your first picture. Make it so the coil is in the bottom left of your imaginary box. Hope that makes more sense.

I just did this yesterday, with the pelican parts kit. Putting the new cylinder back together with the old tumblers was the biggest pain in the ass. Its kind of weird but you probably have something blocking you from turning the key the first spring. Take some time and look at it and line up the notches... Its really hard to describe online.

The key isnt coming out because something is blocking it from rotating to the right position to pull it out. I don't know what kit you used but mine had 2 springs. One on the locking arm and then that last one that connects the clip and arm. The connecting spring looks like u installed it correctly. Take more pics along the cylinder, was the key going in and out before you attached that last spring ?
