Dammit my car ate my 10mm wrench!

My 10mm wrench fell behind the front left wheelwell under the brake booster and as i went to go snatch it, it fell into the small hole in the frame. Every attempt to get it just pushes it further in. Only way i can see getting it out now is removing the subframe or pulling the brake booster so i can reach in there. GG

    RIP 10mm wrench

worst part is thats my only 10mm and its part of a set :(

Do you have one of those grabbers you could use to try and grip it and pull it out? It's got a claw at the end of it that gets really tight, I've used one to get to things that have fallen in tough to reach places.

This is basically what it looks like, but I prefer the ones that are semi rigid, easier to guide in there.

This whole post is full of sexual innuendo.

I know i need to snag a magnet stick or one of those claw grabbers. But it will still involve me removing the brake booster unless i get a real long claw. By now it could be anywhere allong the subframe because i drove on it.

RIP-- maybe it will go to the same place as my 20torx bit that fell into the plastic coverings on that e61 a few weeks ago-- never ever to be found again!

I lost a 1/4" drive 6" extender into the depths of my car. Found it 6-7 years later!

Back when I did custom car audio, many a car ate many a tool. We would always have a small moment of silence. I suggest we do the same for your 10mm wrench.

Just cut a hole in your frame and pull it out.

                  Brilliant.

It would be a lot of work, but what if you pulled the front bumper and bumper shock and reached in from the front. Should be able to get a magnet down in there.

EricT did the same thing. Lost a few tools down that hole. Got out the hole saw and drilled a 1 inch hole in the frame. Went to town with a mag and pulled them all out.

Could we please have a moment of silence for our fallen heroes that have served us well..... may they rest in peace and in place if we know where exactly they fell and may they fornever rust without pieces until they may possibly again be re-united with their loved ones . AMEN

                          What about a magnet?
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.
