    Coolant

Did a full flush today and I only managed to put in 5 litres of coolant. All my hoses feel half full, but the resevoir is full, and I'm running at normal temp. Bleed screw is pooring out fluid, but no air bubbles. I have no idea why it's not taking anymore coolant. Any tricks?

do it. you want to make sure the heater core got filled, i reckon.

Found my problem. I was in a rush and didn't drain the block out of the freeze plug. But my rad hoses still feel empty. Kinda weird, but it isn't overheating so I'll leave it.

Monitor the coolant level and temp gauge, check to make sure your car has heat in the cabin. Those are tell tale signs of an improperly filled cooling system.

IMO filling e30s with coolant is not as easy as other cars or as most people who don't own e30s will advise you to do.

I've got heat and the car is running cool, so I think everything is A-ok.

Followed Bredan's advice and still messed up a bit. Still, everything went smoothly, and now I have heat when I'm stopped idling!

i just topped the coolant off a week ago, and now my car is running almost cold, it doesnt go past 1/4 of the way on the temp guage. also when the engine is cold, when i go to stop or make a turn, i push in the clutch the rpms go up to around 2000 until i completely stop and tap the break. weird. it jsut started doing this a week ago when i put the coolant in. any ideas?

what it did to flush the whole thing is take the t-stat out(needed to replace it anyway) and stuck a hose in the radiator and ran the engine till the water comming out of it was clear

do the hoses feel empty when the coolant is not under pressure, wait till the thermostat opens, put the lid on the resivor and then sqeeze the hose.

BMW would not have put the bleed screw where it is if you would have to do this. you should always bleed the car on a level surface. trust me ive flushed many e30 m20's.
