    Heater

So the previous owner disconnected all of the hoses from the heater core and such. I am very retarded and don't have a clue how to hook it back up.

Any diagrams or good explanations on how to hook it back up?

well if i were you i would be asking myself why did the PO isolate the heater core? I can think of only two reasons:

    a) the heater valve didn't work and was putting out heat all the time making the car too hot
or more likely and more of a PITA

    b) the heater core has a hole in it

if you have a late model car you more than likely have a heater core with both inlet and outlet on the same side which you can change by simply removing the interior trim piece to the right of the gas peddle and accessing the heater core that way. but if you have an early model (pre '88 ish iirc) then you have to take the fucking dash apart. PS there is a DIY in the FAQ/DIY section on this
also check out www.realoem.com remember e30's are now in the archive section

      Beautiful. I have a 91 e30.

The previous owner stated he was about to tear out the heater core but never got around to it. There was a lot of work done to the car in terms of tearing things out, it makes me skeptical about this now.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll look through the DIY section. I didn't see anything.

It's a very common hack fix for either a leaking heater core or a leaking valve. If you do the core, get a new valve too. It will save you from having to do the job again.

You will spill some coolant inside, so be ready for that. You don't want to get it down into your carpet pad. You'll never get the smell out if that happens.

Also, my car is an 87 325is. It has the inlet and return lines on the same side attached to the valve. So I don't know for what year you would need to remove the dash to get a core out if for any year.
