Updated dyno info (EDIT w/ pics + Dyno VID)

Dyno'd my car during Santa Tech at Motorsport Connections last weekend, we wanted to get the a/f tuned with the right fuel pressure. We started it at 52psi and went from there, maximum power/torque and good a/f was realized at 58psi, so that is where it is now set. It now runs a little lean in the midrange and slightly fat on the topend. This is good for midrange punch, with it being a bit lean, and the topend has plenty of fuel and is safe to run at sustained high revs...no worries of premature internal wear.

It pulled a solid 230whp with the fuel pressure set at 58pounds, torque was in the 215 range at peak. (edit: peak torque was just over 210 at the wheels, HP was about 235 at the wheels. The curves are much better than on my last dyno run (last December), where we ran 62psi (rich all over the place). It's making quite a bit more power all across the board, and the midrange throttle response/punch is a lot stronger.

I'm about to go out with the stopwatch and time the 50-80, was about 4.1s with the old chip/62psi. (update: Getting high 3's with current setup, 3.8-3.9)

    Here is my graph:

edit: 2 other cars dyno'd. An M30 6er with a Schrick cam and other goodies, he managed 202whp. A 3.2L M3 with Schrick Cam Kit, he pulled 225whp.

Awesome to hear Stu. I remember how poorly tuned your first dyno graph was. Scan for this one?

Wow, thats fast as hell. My car runs about 5.5 seconds 50-80 with the chip.

What all do you have done to your S50? I am in the process of using your dad's kit to put mine in right now. Almost done

Robert, yea, fuel was a bit rich all over on my first dyno a year ago, but the main problem was a bad HFM, which has since been replaced. It made the curves extremely jumpy, new curves are much nicer. I should get them tomorrow.

Brew, the big- bore big-stroke motors pull a lot harder in the mid and upper midrange, but the 2.5's still wax 2v's on the 50-80. I think my dad got in the 5's also in his 2.5 M50 318.

Beau, Awesome, I hope the rest of your swap goes well. 3liter, right?

I know its pretty "un R3Vlike" , but just for comparison, what type of 1/4 mile do you think you could produce?

Really not sure, but mid 13's would be a guess. I really don't like romping on the car that hard in a straight line though, and am steering clear of any sort of really heavy loads in 1st gear (half shafts and rearend have 250k+ miles). Traction is the issue holding the E30's back in the 1/4 mile, unless you can stuff enormous rubber and a rearend that will hookup

Yeah a 3liter, engine is in, so now we are just wiring it up. Those are some really good numbers for the mod's you have

Dyno Video. Run begins about half way through the vid, 4th gear.
