    The transfer?>!

hiya, so I'm buying a 1991 318is and transfering my entire 1986 eta into it..
so I'm basicly making it into a eta for the moment, waiting for either a e36 swap or a stroker build, the questions i have vary, but lets' start at the begining.
A: when i empty the 318, should i weld in crossbraces? I know that when you rebuld an american car from scratch its' best to do this, because the shell tends to flex without suspension and crossmembers..

B: Brake lines and fuel lines? should i just score some ahead of time? I assume the tanks will have to be swapped due to the fuel pump and so on.. How much would that run me?

C: any parts i can leave in the 318 because their the same for both models? I will be swapping the entire running train and diff. but does the rear carrier have the same dimensions, the motor mount points? the crossmember? the rad has to be changed, obviously..

D: any suggestions? - I'm doing this in my automec class, and the last thing i want is there to be two cars dead on site, with my teacher begging me to finish it up..

E: I'm interested in either going retro and fitting my DB's to the 318 body.. or keeping the none db look to later do a bodykit..

F: paint for the floorpan, engine bay, etc.. where does the high heat stuff go? and what should i use until i get a chance to hit some serious paint on it, i'm thinking about running carpetless, so any imput on noise levels and so on would be appreciated...

thanks guys for your imput., I've being looking for pics of a emptied car, so i can see what I'll have to deal with,.. if theres' a thread I haven't seen, post it. also any parts' i should buy right off the bat, so i know what i'll be looking at budget wise.

why would you wanna swap out the m42 for an m20 eta? there is gonna be quite a few differences but nothing too severe. not sure exactly what though

Yeah, why exactly would you want to swap an M42 for a B27? You'll wind up with a heavier, less tossable car with basically the same power.
      paint sucks

yeah, i know, the 318 is in decent shape, but needs an inspection, and would not pass, plus the whole tracking down the owner is going to be a real bitch, so i figured, i'll swap my titles over to it, plus i really wanted to force induct the m20, with a 2.5 head swap, and so on.. i feel you guys, i just enjoy one less cam, and two more pistons.. plus i might want to go to m3 swap later this coming year, so for now its' a m20 swap..

fair enough. just wondering lol. Doing all the work to put the m20 in just to turn around and put an m50 in doesn't make too much sense though. Is this your dd? if not pull the
m42 and instead of putting in the 20 start prepping your engine bay and getting it ready for the 50. would save you a LOT of work and time

my friend quoted me 3500 for a full m3 swap from a e36 gen. car, but i don't have funds yet to buy that sort of thing, so for the mean time i will restore the body to decent shape, put in the m20, and wait for the m3 swap, when that happens', i'll be in bodyshop class, so i'll be able to lay some nice paint down on the de-rusted frame.. anyone have a pdf file link for both the eta and the m42?

seriously, i'm doing autmec right now, and i took the eta to a bodyshop for the front rails and my tower which decided to head away from the rails, got quoted 1800 if i remove the dash and block and everything, so i said, f' it, i'll do it myself, like mechanics, atleast i know everything thats' happening with my car, instead of trusting, and paying, somebody else.. lol
                p.s. nice pic jeef..
