My car is messed up. Idle problem, smoke, too much power.

    hello all,

Lets start with what happened. I was drivng and the antilock brake light came on. OK I was driving on a slick roads so no big deal. It did not go off until I shut it down. I proceed to give a good running truck away to a friend of mine who is having some hard times. Next morning I go to start my bmmer to drive into the city and she idles like crap. I thought that it might have a fould plug or something so I left it alone and drove the 2003 subaru into the city. Great now all day I am thinking about this car that I have.
Finally I get home and same problem. Runs poorly and smokes badly, I recall that I let it warm up with no improvement. did not run hot.

So I start puttung stuff off. I took a look at the afm and the vane moves freely. inside the throttle body there is a good amount of brown sutty mess in there. There is even some ice in the the intake boot.

II ohm tested the throttle switch and it was not showing continuity when the throttle was closed. I sought to adjust that. I think that I adjusted it well enough. it is continuous at closed and when the throttle is moved a litte bit it closes. Any wat that could be my 1st mistake.
I also did not have the throttle gasket to replace.

after all of that the car would race at cold idle up to 2000 and go up and down.
The car also had alot of power. Just driving mildly would kick the tires loose.

I let the car sit overnight and it behaved a bit more normal this morning. Idle was closer to mormal. drove it to work 4 miles. but the o2 sensor code comes up. I had replaced that about 5000 ago but spliced it in with the mustang one. Maybe that is messed up.

but also it seems that my trip computer reset itself. I dont know if this car has an electrical problem.

Now I am considering going to the junk yard and pulling a idle contral valve, ( I may clean my old one out although I recently did that), and amf. and see what happens.

I may get an oem o2 sensor.

I may go buy a toyota.

    thanks for listening
